To all swimmers who are competing in the afternoon sessions on the 6th & 7th of February at GL1.

Please be aware that there is a printing error on your card.
The correct time for the warm-up is 1:20pm and not 2:10pm as printed on the card.

All Swimming Officials and Coaches Please Note

From 1st January 2010 all competitions in England, Scotland and Wales will be
applying the FINA rules below in relation to Swimsuits for swimming (excluding
Masters and Open Water) competitions.

Current FINA rules state:-

GR 5 SWIMWEAR

GR 5.1 The swimwear (swimsuit, cap and goggles) of all competitors shall be in
good moral taste and suitable for the individual sports disciplines and not to
carry any symbol which may be considered offensive.

GR 5.2 All swimsuits shall be non transparent.

GR 5.3 The referee of a competition has the authority to exclude any competitor
whose swimsuit or body symbols do not comply with this Rule.

BL 8.2 In swimming competitions the competitor must wear only one swimsuit in
one or two pieces. No additional items, like arm bands or leg bands shall be
regarded as parts of a swimsuit.

BL 8.3 From January 1, 2010 swimwear for men shall not extend above the navel
nor below the knee, and for women, shall not cover the neck, extend past the
shoulder, nor shall extend below knee. All swimsuits shall be made from textile
materials.

Do you know a community or charitable organisation that is looking for IT equipment and wants to get online?  If so, they can apply for a BT Community Connections award today. 

BT Community Connections is an award scheme which enables community and charitable organisations to get online.  Groups can apply for a laptop and a year’s free broadband connection.  Award packages will be given to groups who can demonstrate how an award will benefit their work and the local community.   
Any organisation, working in any field of community benefit, located anywhere within the United Kingdom or the Republic of Ireland can apply.  In the past voluntary projects, silver-surfers, conservation organisations, family support groups, sports teams and youth groups have been successful.

Wesport Course Calendar and Availability for 2009 - 2010

Wesport offer a wide variety of courses in and around the north and north east of the Somerset ASA area.

The West of England Club, Coach and Volunteer Development Programme provides you with a variety of workshops to attend whether you are a new coach, a coach looking to develop your skills or a club volunteer wanting to develop your club. The programme is provided by the West of England Sport Trust and local partners, including local universities and unitary authorities. 

On the below calendar you will find a wide variety of generic courses including those accredited by Sports Coach UK and Running Sport. You will also find information and links to sport-specific coaching awards, run through our National Governing Body partners and our local university coaching programmes ‘Juice’ and ‘Coachbase’. The workshops are aimed at all coaching levels and clubs to be delivered in and around the Bath & North East Somerset and North Somerset area.  Some courses are based at the University of the West of England, Bristol.

Courses include; Safeguarding & Protecting Children, Equity in Coaching, Guide to Mentoring Coaches, Coaching Disabled Performers, an Introduction to FUNdementals of Movement, a Club for All, Action Planning, Funding and Running your Club, the Role of the Volunteer Co-ordinator and First Aid.
